Team Omoke Thunders Clinches FASS Leadership in UNSA 2026 Elections
Team Omoke Thunders won the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) leadership in the 2026 University of Nairobi Students Association elections, emerging victorious after a competitive contest against Team Amity, Team Ascend League, and Team Ayodo.
The elections, conducted through the University of Nairobi’s e-ballot system, saw active participation from students across various faculties, with FASS recording a voter turnout of 23.08 percent while the overall university turnout stood at 31.74 percent.
The newly elected FASS leadership team is headed by Orwaru Omoke Delick as Chairperson. Other elected officials include Nur Salma Abdi as Vice Chairperson, Seiko Trevor Charles as Secretary General, Wangechi Euphresia as Treasurer, Daniel Musukuni as Sports and Social Welfare Representative, Boniface Pkiach as PWD Representative, and Bol Judy as International Student Representative.
At the university level, Ahmed Rashid Burrow, a third-year Faculty of Law student, was elected UNSA President after Team Ahmed Rashid Synergy secured victory with 15 votes,while Team Favour 12 votes and Team Sawa 6 votes.
The swearingin ceremony for the elected student leaders was held at Taifa Hall on Saturday, May 23, 2026. During the event, Vice Chancellor Prof. Ayub Gitau congratulated the new leaders and urged them to embrace servant leadership grounded in integrity, accountability, and unity. He noted that despite challenges arising from legal processes and institutional uncertainty, the elections reflected the resilience of the university community and students’ commitment to democratic participation.
Chairperson of the UNSA Independent Electoral Commission, Collins Odote, described the elections as a constitutionally guided process that upheld institutional accountability despite delays caused by court processes and integrity concerns in some campuses.
The ceremony concluded with renewed calls for responsible leadership, inclusive governance, and sustained student participation in shaping the future of the University of Nairobi.
