The ceremony of the Chinese Culture Tour in Africa and the Xiamen Tour Photo Exhibition was officially opened at the University of Nairobi at the Confucius Institute. The event marked a significant moment in deepening cultural exchange and diplomatic relations between China and Kenya.
Guests attending the ceremony included Mr. Shangguan Jun, Head of the Xiamen Delegation, Director General of the Information Office of Xiamen Municipal People's Government, and Director General Xiamen Film Bureau, Mr. Zhang Zhizhong, Minister Counselor of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Kenya, Mr. Audrey Cheruto， Director, Legal Affairs, Kenya Film Commission, Ms. Charlene Ruto, Founder and Patron of the iSMACHS Foundation, first daughter of the Republic of Kenya, Mr. Evans Kapkea, Deputy Governor and the delegation from Uasin Gishu County, Ms. Faith Belinda Nyamboki, Curriculum Development Officer –Mandarin Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development, Mr. John Orindi, Director Corporate affairs at the UoN Ms. Wang Shangxue, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at the UoN, representatives from Kenya's cultural, educational, and business industries, as well as faculty members and students from the UoN.
" I would like to thank the Embassy of China for supporting the students and for working together in building bridges and joining both countries," said Mr. John Orindi, Director Corporate Affairs UoN, in his opening speech. 
" I invite all of you to visit Xiamen, it is China's city of film, you can see its beauty and enjoy the scenery," said Mr. Shangguan Jun. Noting also how each year they have seen competitors from Kenya, he also thanked all the institutions and both countries for the support and effort.
Mr. Zhang Zhizhong, Minister Counselor of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Kenya, said the exhibition was to show and give a deeper understanding of Chinese and Xiamen culture. " By collaboration, we can achieve more, share rewards, and have a shared future," he said. 
Later, there was a play of a promotional video that explained about Xiamen. 'Xiamen is like a song — one that plays elegant, romantic, and artistic notes, ' the video introduced. 
Xiamen is not only known for its beautiful landscapes and rich cultural diversity, but also as China’s renowned “City of Film.” It has long served as the host city for the prestigious China's Golden Rooster & Hundred Flowers Film Festival and Golden Rooster Awards Ceremony.
It was a poetic tour of the Sea Garden through the video.
Later, the Head of the Xiamen Delegation, Director General of the Information Office of Xiamen Municipal People's Government, and Director General of Xiamen Film Bureau, Mr. Shangguan Jun, presented a souvenir to Mr. John Orindi DCA, UoN in absentia of Mr. John Chirchir, Deputy Director, Kenya Tourism Board of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Kenya. 
Then Mr. Shen Xianyang, Chairman and General Manager of Xiamen International Book Company Limited presented books to Ms. Wang Shangxue, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi.
Then progressed to the exhibition area for a tour, which included pictorials about Xiamen Municipal and a section of books that embraced the Chinese and Xiamen culture.
We celebrate the cultural exchange and cooperation between China and Kenya.
