The School of Business successfully held its 10th African International Business and Management Conference (AIBUMA) from October 23rd and 24th, 2019 at the Lower Kabete Campus.

The theme for this year’s conference was: Leveraging on Technology in expanding the frontiers of business.” As usually the case during the conference, there were delegates from different spheres of work including industry experts, entrepreneurs and academia including postgraduate students.

More than 20 papers were presented during the two-day event with the highlight of the conference being a presentation by the much celebrated Dr. James Mwangi, CEO Equity Bank Group.  Dr. James Mwangi also an alumnus of the school of Business couldn’t hide his joy on his return to his alma mater. “I left the school of Business 30 years ago and I am so honoured and excited to be back today.” Said Dr. Mwangi. “If it were not for the school of Business, I wouldn’t be where I am now. “He added.  In his keynote address, Dr. Mwangi presented a paper titled; “Managing 21st Century Realities at Equity Bank.” Where he recounted the past and the future of Equity bank group amid the ever changing technological environment. “There are four forces that will shape technology & Innovations in the banking sector and these include mobile, cloud, big data and social.” Remarked Dr. Mwangi.  Click here to Download Dr. Mwangi’s presentation.

Apart from the Equity Bank’s CEO’S presentation, there were dozens of other exciting papers including one titled “The Antecedents of Innovativeness in Small and Medium Manufacturing Enterprises in Nairobi County, Kenya; A Qualitative Approach.” Presented by Prof. Bitange Ndemo, Mkalama Rose and David Maalu.
