The University of Nairobi held its 2026 Annual Prayer Day at Taifa Hall, bringing together staff, students, senior officials, and guests in a solemn gathering of praise, thanksgiving, and reflection. Since its establishment in 2018, the annual event has become a cornerstone for fostering spiritual growth, unity, and collective responsibility within the UoN community.
Prof. Mande, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, noted that the Prayer Day has become a cherished tradition at UoN, offering an opportunity for the community to pause, reflect, and give thanks for God’s guidance and blessings that have sustained the University through the years. He emphasized that the day strengthens unity, inspires dedication, and reminds everyone of the shared responsibility to advance the University’s mission. Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic Affairs, Prof. Ayub Gitau, also highlighted the importance of faith, collective purpose, and perseverance, acknowledging the steadfast commitment of staff and students in contributing to UoN’s continued success.
The ceremony featured prayers of praise and thanksgiving, readings from the Holy Bible, and a Qur’an recitation, reflecting UoN’s commitment to interfaith harmony. Some of the speakers included Rev. Hosea Mitei, Abdikadir, a Law student who recited verses from the Holy Qur’an, and Imam Swaleh, whose reflections focused on hope, gratitude, and perseverance. The University Choir enriched the occasion with uplifting hymns that filled the hall with praise and thanksgiving.
The 2026 Annual Prayer Day concluded as a powerful celebration of faith, gratitude, and community, leaving participants inspired and motivated to approach the year ahead with renewed purpose, reflection, and service.
