The College of Humanities and Social Sciences, CHSS, dominated most sports competitions and emerged winners during the University of Nairobi Annual Sports Day held at the University of Nairobi grounds, Main Campus.

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the biggest college in the University of Nairobi out-maneuvered and out-powered other Colleges in sporting activities like athletics, tennis, hockey and volleyball. The team showed utter brilliance, teamwork, focus, dedication, collaboration, sheer hard-work, being among the right ingredients for wining in sports activities.

While officially flagging off the event, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Human resource, and Administration, Prof. Enos Njeru emphasized the importance of sports, “This is an important event in the University’s calendar. Sports is therapeutic and good for your health.”

Prof. Stephen Kiama, the University’s Vice-Chancellor took the opportunity to acknowledge the sponsors of the event; Telkom Kenya, Tecno Mobile, UoN Alumni Association, Primewood, Flame Tree, KUSU- UoN Chapter, FOMO TV, Special Olympics Kenya, and Kubamba Radio. He expressed his gratitude to all who partnered with the University and to all the staff and students that came out to play.

He awarded trophies to the winning teams and urged the university community to invest more in sporting activities. He highlighted the emphasis that some parts of the world put on sports and extracurricular activities and urged the university to pick on that.

The theme for this year's event was, 'Keeping safe and Healthy through sports'
