Foreword

 The Centre for Translation and Interpretation (CTI) was established in June 2010 as a regional postgraduate institution based at the University of Nairobi. It was born out of collaboration between the University of Nairobi, the United Nations and the European Union with the mandate to train translators and, conference and community interpreters within the African region.

The core functions of the Centre include training of translators and, conference and community interpreters, research and publication, servicing conferences and consulting.  The Centre has modern training facilities with state-of-the –art interpreting booths, a library and a computer laboratory.

The Centre maintains close links with the following international organizations: United Nations, European Union, European Commission (SCIC), African Union and University of Geneva.

At the Centre for Translation and Interpretation, we are firm in our commitment to quality service hinged on hard work, transparency, accountability, fairness and timely service delivery.

This service charter is a commitment by the CTI to deliver high quality service to our students, staff, research collaborators, donors, other stakeholders and the public at large.
