Do you have a flair for language? Want to make language your career? Or do you want to upgrade your professional skills in translation or interpreting?

If you want to learn how to translate written documents, interpret in court, at conferences, in the public service or in business contexts and if your language combination includes English and at least one relevant language from among:  Kiswahili, French, and Spanish.

The Centre for Translation and Interpretation - UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI offers you a wide selection of part-time (evening and Saturdays) MA PROGRAMMES in the fields of Interpretation or Translation. You do not need to be a language graduate; all you need is to be a holder of a Bachelors degree in any academic field and to be at least bi-lingual with English and one other language among: Kiswahili, French and Spanish.

As one of the Pan African Masters Consortium in Interpretation and Translation – PAMCIT Centres, we offer quality professional training that prepares you for the world of work. Ask us about the correct career path for you today.

Centre Translation and Interpretation through PAMCIT will offer a limited number of scholarships. These scholarships will be offered on merit to the best candidate in the entrance exam.

Minimum Admission Requirements

Bachelors Degree (from any academic discipline) with:

  1. (Upper 2nd Class Division and above or equivalent, or Lower 2nd Class Division with at least 2years working experience) or equivalent, or a Pass degree with 5 years working experience or equivalent.
  2.  Must be highly proficient in English and at least one relevant language from among: Kiswahili, French, Spanish.

Pre-qualified applicants must sit and pass an aptitude test before admission.

Mode of Study: Evening and Saturday Classes (part time module 2 programmes)

Fees Structure:-

• Tuition (16 units, including final semester project) per unit* Ksh. 13,500

• Examination fees per unit Ksh. 1,000

• Medical (per year) Kshs. 5,000

• Library (per Semester) Kshs. 3,000

• Activity (per year) Kshs. 2,000

• Computer (per year) Kshs. 5,000

• Registration (per Semester) Kshs. 1,000

• Students ID (per year) Kshs. 500

• Research (minimum) Kshs. 50,000

• Book Allowance per year Kshs. 40,000

• Caution (paid once; refundable) Kshs. 5,000

Completed application forms with certified copies of degree certificates must be returned to: The Director, Centre for Translation and Interpretation, University of Nairobi, and P.O. Box 30197-00100 Nairobi , 2nd Floor CCU Building, next to the University Graduation Grounds.
